1. PM Modi hands over G20 Presidency Gavel to Brazil’s President

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Handed over the G20 Presidency To Brazil’s President “Lula da Silva”, Masking the Transition of Leadership within the Elite Group .This Gesture Signified the strong relation between the two nations. 

Brazil officially will take over the Mantle on the presidency on December 021. Brazil’s president also listed social inclusion, the fight against Hunger Energy Transition and Sustainable Development as G20 Priorities. The Priorities align with Brazil’s G20 Presidency motto which is “Building a Fair World and Sustainable Planet”. The G20 Summit 2024 will be held in November 2024 in Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro.

2. African Union Becomes Permanent Member of G20 under India’s presidency

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Officially Announced The African Union’s(AU) permanent membership in  G20.

In the opening Session of the G20 Summit, Modi invited the chair of the African Union, Azail Assoumani to take the seat as a permanent member of the G20. The  African Union is a continental body consisting of the 55 member states that make up the countries of the African continent. This marked a moment of pride and Triumph for the African Union as its secured its place among the World’s most influential Economy. Its Permanent Membership in the G20 Reflects the Increasing Recognition of Africa’s Economic And Geopolitical Importance.

3. Global Biofuel Alliance 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with the leaders of Singapore, Bangladesh, Italy, USA, Brazil, Argentina, Mauritius, and UAE Launched the Global Bio Fuel Alliance on 9 September 2023 on the slides of the G20 summit in New Delhi. The Global Bio Fuel Alliance is an initiative by India’s G20 chair. The Global Bio Fuel aims to serve as a catalytic Platform, Fastering global collaboration of the Advancement and Widespread adoption of Biofuels. The Alliance will also act as a Central Repository of Knowledge and an Expert Hub.

4. India and Saudi Arabia Sign an Agreement on Cooperation in the Energy Sector

India and Saudi Arabia Have signed a Memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of Energy. The Mov signed between the Government of the Republic of India and the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in New Delhi on 10th September 2023 by the union minister for New and Renewable Energy and Power, Government of India Shri R.K Singh for the Indian side and minister of Saudi Arabia, His Royal Highness Abdulaziz bin salam Al-Saud for the Saudi side.

5. North Korea Launches New Tactical Nuclear Attack Submarine.

North Korea Has Launched its First  “ Tactical Nuclear Attack Submarine” Designated Submarine  No.841 and Named HER KIM KUN OK. An Ex-Commander of the North Korean Navy, North Korean leader Kim Jong un presided over the unveiling ceremony, saying the submarine was part of a “push forward with the Nuclear Weaponisation of the Navy” North Korea plans to turn its existing submarines and accelerate its push to build nuclear power submarines. North Korea has a Large Submarine flat but only the experimental balistis missile submarine 8.24 yongung is known to have Launched a Missile.

6. President Draupadi Murmu Inaugurates First Global Symposium on farmer’s rights in New Delhi 

President Draupadi Murmu Inaugurated the First Global Symposium on Farmer’s Rights in New Delhi on 12th September 2023. This Symposium was organized by the secretariat of the International Treaty on Planet Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture ( Internation treaty) of the Food And Agriculture Organization (FAO)in Rome. It was hosted by the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.

The president said that Agricultural Research And Technology Development has enabled India to multiply the Production of Food Grains, Horticulture, Fishers, Milk, and Eggs. Many times since 1950-1951, thus making a visible impact on the National food and nutrition security. She highlighted that the efforts of Agro-Biodiversity conservers and industrious Farmers, scientists and policymakers coupled with Government support have played a key role in giving fillip to multiple Agriculture Revolutions in the country. She expressed confidence that the Technology and Science can serve as an Effective protector and enhancer of heritage Knowledge.

7. NASA’s MOXIE successfully generates oxygen on Mars

NASA announced the successful completion of its Mars oxygen in situ resource utilization experiment (MOXIE) aboard the Perseverance Mars rover. MOXIE, a device roughly the size of a microwave oven has demonstrated its ability to convert Martian carbon dioxide Co2 into oxygen. This technological breakthrough could play a crucial role in further human missions to Mars, providing a sustainable source of breathable air and rocket propeuant.MOXIE has generated a total of 122 grams of oxygen since its operation on Mars, exceeding NASA’s original goals. At its peak efficiency, it produced 12 grams of oxygen per hour, twice in initial target .

MOXIE’S Success Masks a significant step toward enabling Austronausts to “LIVE OFF THE LAND” on Mars by producing their own oxygen and rocket propellant supporting long-term Exploration and Sustainability on the Red planet.

8. Skill India Digital

Union Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan launched Skill India Digital (SID), a Digital public infrastructure (DPI) aimed at synergising and transforming the Skills, Education, Employment, and Entrepreneurship landscape of India. Skill India Digital offers an easy-to-use interface adaptable to various devices and supports multiple Indian languages to ensure accessibility.

It aims to be a breakthrough in accelerating skilled talent hiring and facility lifelong learning and career advancement while serving as an information gateway for government initiatives. Organizations can access digital CVs of candidates via personalized QR codes for potential Recruitment or partnerships. Skill India Digital Integrates various government training programs into a unified and Centralized hub for skill development initiatives.

This approach aims to Remove obstacles and provide a comprehensive platform for skill development.

9. Swachhta Abhiyan 3.0

The Ministry of Civil Aviation will launch a special campaign 3.0 from 2nd October to 31st October 2023. Preparatory activities have already started on September 15, 2023. Building on the success of special campaign 2.0 in October 2022, this campaign is focuses on institutionalizing cleanliness and reducing bureaucratic backlogs.

Special campaign 3.0 aims to expedite the resolution of pending matters and promote cleanliness in government offices. Generating Revenue through waste management not only promotes cleanliness but also creates a financial value that can be reinvested in improving infrastructure and public services.

10. Extension of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved the extension of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana(PMUY) for the release of 75 lakh LPG Connections over three years from financial year 2023-24 to 2025-26. Provisioning of 75 lakhs additional Ujjwala connections will take total number of PMUY beneficiaries to 10.35 crore.

  • The PMUY Scheme has empowered women women economically and socially with easier access to LPG, women are no longer burdened with the task of collecting firewood or other traditional fuels.
  • Furthermore, the Ujjwala Scheme has contributed to enhancing the safety and security of women as they no longer need to venture into isolated and potentially unsafe areas to collect firewood or fuel.
  • A Targeted subsidy of Rs.200 per 14.2kg LPG cylinder for up to 12 refills per year is being provided to PMUY consumers.
  • The main aim of this scheme is to distribute 50 million LPG connections to women’s of Below poverty-line families.

11. Red fire ant found in Italy

A study has found that Red fire ants one of the most invasive species on the earth and the fifth most expensive to combat, have reached Europe. The researchers have claimed to have found 88 nests of the Red ants spread over five acres near the Italian city of Syracuse on the island of Sicily. According to a study published in the journal ‘Current Biology’, the colonization potential of the ants in Europe is alarming and climate change can further escalate it.

These ants have spread to the US, Mexico, The Caribbean, China, Taiwan, and Australia in less than a century. Red fire ants are known for being aggressive and their sting can cause pain and allergic reactions. They also cause damage to crops and the local ecosystem.

12. Ancient Terracotta figurines found at Megalithic dolmen site near Moodbidri

Unique Terracotta figurines in different states of preservation, with bone and iron, have been found in recent archaeological explorations conducted in the Megalithic dolmen site at Mudukonaje, near Moodbidri in Dakshina Kannada. According to historian T. Murugeshi, the figurines were datable to 800-700BC.

Out of 8 found, there are two Cow bovines, One Mother Goddess, Two Peacocks, a Horse, a Hand of a Mother Goddess, and an unknown object.

It was the biggest Megalithic Dolmen site which consisted of Nine Dolmens on the slope of Stone Hill.

13. Salem Sago Gets GI Tag

The Salem starch and sago manufacturers service Industrial Co-operative Society Ltd, popularly known as Sago serve, received a Geographical Indication(GI) Tag for Salem sago. District Collector S. Karmegam handed over the certificate to Sago serve administration Lalitaditya Neelam at an event on the day.

The Collector said Sago was used as food during severe droughts in the Travancore Kingdom. The Salem Sago serve earned 4.02 crore in profit in 2022-23.

The Salem district Joint Director for the Agriculture Department, Singaram, said the GI Tag opens the door for the International Market for Sago Manufacturers Salem Sago is the 50th Product to get the GI Tag in Tamilnadu.

14. President Launched Ayushman Bhav Campaign

Hon’ble President of India Smt.Draupadi Murmu virtually launched the visionary ‘Ayushman Bhav’ campaign as well as the Ayushman Bhav Portal, from Raj Bhawan Gandhinagar Gujarat. A multi-ministerial approach has been adopted to achieve this goal. It would help our country in achieving Universal Health Coverage.

It aims to provide saturation coverage of Health Care Services reaching every village and town in the country. The campaign will be implemented during the seva Pakhwada from September 17 to October 2, 2023.

15. Fourth G20 Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion

The Fourth G20 Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion (GPFI) meeting was held in Mumbai on September 14 to 16, 2023. The meeting will bring together over 50 delegates from G20 member countries, special invite countries, and international organizations.

The meeting will involve discussions on ongoing work of the financial inclusion agenda under the G20 India presidency in areas of Digital Financial Inclusion and SME Finance.
